Hello Ashland Community Members,
The beginning of the new year also signals the beginning of budget discussions for the Town of Ashland. We recognized years ago that the required process for adopting a budget as set by State Code is a bit illogical because it puts the public hearing for the budget at the very end of the process….right before Town Council makes their final vote and long after many details have already been worked out.
To ensure we receive more timely budget input from the community we proactively schedule additional opportunities to receive feedback. The budget schedule is outlined below, but today I want to highlight the first opportunity for input.
Next Tuesday, Feb. 7th, 2023 the Town Council will hold our Unofficial Budget Public Hearing as part of their regularly scheduled Town Council meeting. This is the best opportunity to share your ideas for what we should or should not be funding for the next fiscal year because it comes before any decisions have been made by Town staff or the Town Council.
If you can’t make it to the meeting in person, don’t worry. We love budget input in any form. You are welcome to email me directly and I will be sure to share your suggestion with the relevant Town staff and the Town Council. We all look forward to hearing from you in the weeks and months ahead.
