Construction is now underway on the Town Hall Pavilion, which will be located on the lawn in front of Ashland's Town Hall (121 Thompson Street). Envisioned as a shady gathering place for Ashlanders and a venue for small performances and community events, the Pavilion will be complete and ready for use by the end of 2022.
The design for the pavilion was approved by the Town's Parks & Recreation Committee in January 2022, following a public input process. Similar to the rendering in the photo on the right, the pavilion will feature an A-frame roof structure in keeping with the architectural style of Ashland Town Hall, a raised stage, an ADA-accessible ramp tied into the sidewalk along England Street, and electrical connections for use at musical performances and other events. Not pictured: the Pavilion bricks will match those of the existing wall, the platform will tie into the planters, and a fan and lighting will be installed.
Throughout the construction period, minor disruptions to parking spaces in the Town Hall parking lot and along England Street are expected in order to accommodate construction vehicles and requirements.
In addition, on Saturday mornings from 7am-1pm in August, September, and October the portion of Duncan Street from Hanover Avenue to England Street (directly in front of Town Hall) will be closed to accommodate Ashland Farmers Market vendors normally set up on the lawn. This section of Duncan Street will be reopened at the conclusion of the market each Saturday.
We look forward to watching this project progress and celebrating its completion on the lawn with everyone in a few months!
