Picking up after your pet

Nobody likes it when they accidentally step in pet waste that hasn’t been picked up, so picking up after your pet is certainly the neighborly thing to do. But did you know that leaving pet waste behind also contaminates our waterways? Pet waste left in ditches or near drop inlets can be carried into the stormwater system and result in increased levels of e coli bacteria in our creeks and streams. Pet waste disposal stations are located at all Town parks and trails, making it easy to pick up after your pet in these public spaces.

The Town has created a series of educational music videos on this topic featuring several staff, elected officials, and citizens:

The production of these videos was paid for by funds generated from the sale of Chesapeake Bay license plates. Plates can be ordered here: https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/vehicles/#splates/info.asp?idnm=CB.  For more information about the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund visit http://dls.virginia.gov/commissions/cbr.htm.
