Written in 1988, "Love Letters" was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and has featured in its two roles actors such as Kathleen Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Carol Burnett, Sigourney Weaver, James Earl Jones, Martin Sheen, Alan Alda, and Tom Hanks. The play follows the relationship between Andrew and Melissa from childhood through boarding school, college, and the ups and downs of adulthood, careers, marriages, and families. Unlike most plays, the story is told entirely through the letters and cards that the two characters send each other over the years.
"Love Letters" runs two nights only. Reservations may be made at ashlandcoffeeandtea.com or by calling 804-299-3605.
The Ashland Players is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making meaningful, accessible, and enjoyable theater part of the cultural life of Ashland and the surrounding communities.
